Activities

 

Archery

Fees: $5 per event plus $20 registration fee.

Location: Oasis Gun Club.

Event Information: Recurve / longbow, compound fingers, & compound release. Fee: $5 per event.

Note: Archers provide their own bows and target arrows.

Basketball Skills

Fee: $5 (includes free-throw, hotshot & 3-point), plus $20 registration fee.

Location: Mesquite Recreation Center.

Event Information:

  1. Participation is open to as many participants as register for the event.
  2. There will be three separate events in the basketball skills competition:

Free throw contest - 25 shots per participant.

Hot shot contest – each participant will have one minute to score as many points as possible from different spots on the floor. Each spot on the floor is worth a different amount of points.

Three Point Contest – each participant will shoot four balls from five different racks on the floor. Each ball is worth one point except for the final “money” ball in each rack which is worth two points.

A cumulative score for the three events will be tallied for each participant and a gold, silver, and bronze medal will be awarded to the top participants in each age category.

Participants may shoot as many times as they want.

Only non-marking shoes will be allowed in the gymnasium

Medals will be awarded at the conclusion of the event.

The participants will compete in the order they arrive at the competition and sign in at the registration desk.

A scorekeeper/timer will be provided for each participant.  Participants may not keep their own scores/times.

Radio Control Pylon Racing

Fee: $5 per event plus $20 registration fee.

Location: Scenic Airfield (intersection of old Highway 89 and Scenic Boulevard two miles east of Mesquite).

Format: Qualifiers, then SUPRA rules Sport Class.  Sundowner and Quickie races, if at least 5 entries per.  Optional Open Class electrics with at least five entries.

Any and all AMA members age 50+ are welcome to participate.  Proof of AMA (and age) required.  Spectators welcome.

Bowling

Fees: $8 per bowler per event, plus $20 registration fee.

Location: Virgin River Hotel & Casino.

Event Information:

  1. Bowling will be comprised of men’s singles, women’s singles and any combination of doubles. Only Handicap divisions this year. The Handicap will be calculated at 85% of 200. Averages must be verified by presenting current year league average sheets; otherwise you will have to bowl scratch.
  2. Gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded for all squad teams.  Medal winners will be limited to one gold per designation. (For example, you could win one gold for men’s singles handicap, and also participate in and win gold in the doubles handicap.)  * For doubles, average age will determine bracket.
  3. Pre-registered bowlers will have priority and late entries will be subject to availability.

Softball - Men's & Women's

Fee: $285.

Location: Pioneer Park Softball Complex.

PLEASE NOTE MEN'S DIVISION: All divisions are welcome to play in Mesquite Senior Games.  In the Super Major divisions we MUST have four teams to form a bracket or the bracket will be cancelled. AAA and AA divisions must have four teams to form a bracket or we will combine the brackets with a run differential.  AA teams playing against AAA teams will be awarded five runs per game beginning with the second through the sixth innings (one run per inning).  AA teams picking up AAA or Major or Super Major players will be rated as AAA teams.  No exceptions!  For further clarification, please contact Frank at number listed above.

Sporting Clays

Fee: $16 plus $20 registration fee.

Location: Oasis Gun Club.

Event information:

  Sporting Clays; We will shoot a 50 target course (5-stand) that will be enjoyable for the “for fun” shooters and challenging for the experts. This event is for all shooters. If you have a NSCA member Classification, Master – E Class please note it on your registration.

Tennis

Fee: $5 per person per event.

Location: Hafen Park.

Registration Rules:

  • Participants must indicate the names of their doubles and mixed doubles partners.

  • Participants may enter a maximum of two events.  The two events may include a maximum of one each of singles, doubles and/or mixed doubles.

  • All brackets will be filled by a random draw.

Additional tournament rules:

  • Participants who need to drop out of the tournament are expected to notify the tournament directors before leaving.

  • Partners cannot be substituted mid-tournament.

  • Matches will not be rescheduled to accommodate participants' schedules in other sports.  It is strongly recommended that tennis participants not register for other sports scheduled.

  • Tennis participants are requested to provide a contact cell phone number when they check in at Hafen Park in case they need to be reached during the games.

Format/Rules:

  1. USTA rules will govern play.

  2. Larger draws could begin on Thursday, May 1, but some participants may not start play until Friday, May 2.

  3. Participants must check in at the venue check-in desk a minimum of 15 minutes prior to each of the matches.

  4. Participants will be defaulted if they are unable to play within 15 minutes after their match is called.

  5. Draws with eight or less participants may play a "round-robin" format.

  6. Draws with eight or more participants will play a "Full Feed-In Consolation" format.

  7. Depending on the number of entries received, some draws may be combined.

  8. Draws for first match will be posted at the Mesquite Recreation Center.

  9. Matches are the best of three sets, with the 12-point tie breaker at 6-6.

  10. Tie breakers for third set may be used.

  11. Winners of the semi-finals will play for gold and silver medals.  Loser of the semi-final will playoff for the bronze medal.

Track & Field

Fee: $5 per event, plus $20 registration fee.

Location: Virgin Valley High School.

Event Information: Events: 5k run, 50 meter sprint, 100 meter sprint, 200 meter sprint, 400 meter run, 800 meter run, 1500 meter run, 400 meter race walk, 1500 meter race walk, Shot put, Discus, Javelin, Standing long jump, Running long jump, High jump.

Awards: Senior Games medals for first, second, third by age group & gender.

Golfing

Fee: $40 for 18 holes and $30 for 9 holes, plus $20 registration fee.

18 holes: 5:45 a.m. June 5.

9 holes: 6 a.m. June 6.

Location: Palms Golf Course.

Event Information:

  1. This will be a "no handicap" tournament for ladies and men.
  2. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place medals will be awarded in each age group: 45, 50, 55, 60, 65 and 70+.
  3. Medals will be awarded at the conclusion of each event.
  4. U.S.G.A. rules will govern each event.
  5. Dress code: shorts may be worn, but denims and short-shorts are not acceptable.  Shirt with collar required.
